About Us

The Mizzou Ballroom Dance Club was created in the late 80s, but stopped meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the fall of 2021, our current president, Kira Bennett, came across the club description on MU Engage and requested membership. The previous sponsor of the club, John Howe, promptly reached out to Kira and worked with her to rebuild the club. In order to become an official club, an executive board needed to be established. This led Kira to become president while still in her freshman year. The organization has gone through several changes since then, but the tenacity and dauntless nature of the club still remains.

The Mizzou Ballroom Dance Club is a student-run organization with the purpose of teaching members the art of ballroom dancing. This club consists of many beginner-level dancers, so there is no stress about being perfect. There are multiple weekly lessons held throughout the week.
